Highlights from the rest of the English Football League.
The Blades claw back a few points against Leeds in the Championship as little else changed. Birmingham City secured a definitive victory over Wycombe in their quest for the League 1 title, while Wrexham is in striking distance of automatic promotion. League 2 saw Walsall fall back to the pack, and Accy achieved a win over Tranmere but still isn’t fully safe from relegation. Finally, the Sam’s turn their attention to the FA Cup fifth round, which featured numerous red cards, penalty kicks, and only one big six club making it to the quarter-finals.

Premier League matchweek 27 “I do this for a living”

The Sam’s cover last mid-week’s action as every team in contention for Europe seems to not really want it. Villa got smashed at Palace, Brighton edged out Bournemouth, and Fulham still finds itself in the discussion. Liverpool dominated Newcastle and made the gap 13 points over Arsenal, who had a dud at Forest. Chelsea traded in their voucher. Everton and Brentford look tired. Leeds secured a significant victory against Sheffield United, extending their lead in the Championship to five points. Burnley’s owner has proposed an interesting motivational ultimatum for their club and the bottom of the table. Luton is at the risk of dropping two leagues in consecutive years. The O’s had a big win over Wrexham in Lg 1, and they check in on Reading and a potential sale. Finally, in Lg 2, Doncaster moves into second place but is still far from catching Walsall.

"First Bottle Job" : Premier League matchweek 26

The Sams begin with Liverpool’s rollercoaster week, which now places them 11 points ahead in the standings. They speculate whether Graham misses Malört now that the Gunners have lost in the league. It was tough for all three clubs at the bottom of the league to lose so decisively, while the Wolves pulled off an unexpected win at Bournemouth. Big Sam has wise advice for United supporters, and Newcastle’s victory over Forest was the standout moment of the weekend. Leeds gets a last-minute winner to continue their lead at the top of the Championship, with the Blades being the only contender. Pompey has gotten a couple of wins to give themselves a bigger lead to safety. Birmingham City is starting to run away with Lg 1 as Wycombe and Wrexham fade while a surprise club is in the playoff spot. Finally, in Lg 2, Accy is still safe, but they did lose to Morecambe this weekend as the battle at the bottom gets tighter.

FA Cup 4th Round Recap

This week, Sam is joined by Danny of the Whole Lotta Wolves Podcast to discuss the fourth round of the FA Cup. First, he has a shot of Malört for Mel after the Wolves beat Villa last week. This week, Big Sam, Nicole, and Shan discuss how all the teams at the top of the Championship dropped points, including Leeds and Burnley, who played to a 0-0 draw. Portsmouth has moved out of the relegation zone for now, as Plymouth lost one of their key players to Middlesbrough. Birmingham City leads in League 2 after drawing at Wrexham, and Leyton Orient is now in the playoff hunt. Accrington Stanley achieved a shutout victory in League 2, with an Everton loanee in goal.
